Post Date: Wednesday, December 11, 2019

11.12.2019:A team of 2 researchers and a lawyer visited two district hospitals in the state of Chhattisgarh namely Jagdalpur District Hospital and Dantewada District Hospital. In addition to that they visited a CHC in Kondagaon, two PHC in Metapal and Pondum and a sub centre in Pondum in a span of 3-4 days.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objectives of the Fact finding mission were to:

  1. Analyse the Facilities provided at the district level for maternal and infant health.
  2. Assess whether the Indian Public Health Standards are maintained or not.
  3. Examine whether the budget allocated for certain schemes are being used adequately or not.

LIMITATIONS

Both Jagdalpur District Hospital and Dantewada District Hospital were within the region and not difficult to travel whereas the other two PHC, CHC and subcentre were in remote, active Naxalite areas. It was a little far but the conditions of the road were decent. While travelling through them we were able to comprehend the plight of the local passengers, and most importantly the patients/pregnant mothers as there are no means of public transport.
