HIV/AIDS and the Law

 

The “HIV/AIDS and the Law” adopts a rights-based approach to support people affected by HIV against all forms of discrimination by defending their fundamental human rights including their right to life, health, privacy, education, employment, housing, and other matters.

The two volumes of HIV/AIDS & the Law in English and on in several Indian languages including Hindi demonstrate(s) the indivisibility of human rights since the realisation of economic, social and cultural rights, as well as civil and political rights. Furthermore, the volume(s) state(s) that a rights-based approach to HIV/AIDS is grounded in concepts of human dignity and equality,

The books focus also encompasses the vulnerable and marginalized, communities such as women, children, transgender, commercial sex workers, prisoners, men who have sex with men (MSM), and intravenous drug users (IDUs), among others and providing support to them.

It takes a more detailed look at the issues embedded within such as the feminization of epidemics, and explores the legal and regulatory framework within which such discrimination takes place at both the national and international level. This book also throws light on the discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS within the context of the workplace, healthcare and education.

The book significantly provides insights into the civil and criminal law on HIV/AIDS both at International and National levels
